Johnnie Jirasek, 92, of San Angelo, Texas awoke to a glorious dawn on January 8, 2019 and was taken by the hand of our Savior and led through the gates of heaven. Johnnie was born on January 24, 1926 in Taylor, Texas. He married Dena Gibbs on September 25, 1954. Two sons were born of this marriage, Gary and Mike Jirasek.
Johnnie served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked as a driver at the Goodyear Proving Grounds at San Angelo, retiring after over 30 years.
In retirement, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and he also loved to work on cars. Johnnie never met a stranger and could keep a conversation going indefinitely.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Dena, his son, Gary, grandsons, Steven (Misti), and John Michael (Dylan), great-grandchildren Matthew, Zach, Rylee, and Bentley, special daughter-in-law Lisa Jirasek, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one son, Mike Jirasek.
Services will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. with graveside to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Steven and John Michael Jirasek, Jack and Jim Pool, Jake Alberts, and Kendall Gibbs.
