Johnathan “Johnny” Hernandez, beloved husband, father and grandpapie, went to be with the Lord on his 50th birthday Monday, January 3, 2022 after a courageous battle of small cell lung cancer. Johnny was born on January 3, 1972 to Johnny Espinosa and Rita Paz in San Angelo, Texas. Johnny was self-employed for many years before moving into the Health Care Services field as a District Manager, where he took pride in his outstanding work ethic. Johnny married the love of his life Stephanie Hernandez on July 19, 2002 and had six children. Johnny was also known as Coach Johnny for coaching and supporting different teams his children played on. Johnny was an avid Tennessee Titan fan and enjoyed spending his free time at the gym. Johnny was a member of Paul Ann Baptist Church. Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents Fransico and Rita T. Hernandez, his mother Rita Paz and father Johnny Espinosa, his aunts Wilma Gonzales, Amelia Carrillo and Betty Ochoa and his uncle Frank Hernandez. He is survived by his step-dad Pete Paz and in-laws Ray and Nellie Guerra, wife Stephanie Hernandez, siblings Angela Ojeda and husband Pete, Melissa Paz and husband Lenier Bibbs and Melinda Paz, sister-in-law Christa Lopez and brother-in-law Ray Guerra, Jr., aunt Romelia H. Montez and Jimmy Montez, a special aunt Norma Guerrero, children Veronica Hernandez and Edgar Mendoza, Alicia Womack and husband Hunter, Ashley Hough, Johnathan Hernandez and partner Jacob Crandell, Jonathan Hough and Emilee Hernandez, grandchildren Kamila and John Carter Mendoza and Blake Harper Hernandez, nieces and nephews David Paz, Nina, Carmella and Layla Ojeda, Dimitrius Sewell, Devyon Paz, Audryna Paz, Aelene, Abel, Aslynn and Aiden Rios. A prayer service will be held, Sunday, January 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held Monday, January 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Paulann Baptist Church with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Jason Garcia, James Garcia, Vicente Obregon, Spencer Smith, Charlie Rodriguez and David Paz.
