He married Modesta Gonzales on December 14, 1957 in Menard, Texas and they lived in San Angelo all of their married life. He worked for M'System Grocery Stores for 17 years. Then he moved onto GTE/Verizon and retired from this company after 25 years of service. Upon his retirement, Albert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was always ready to step in and help pick them up from school and get them to their extra-curricular activities. He enjoyed taking long distance road trips and always insisted on doing all the driving — especially to Dallas and Denver to visit his daughter and son.
Albert was a man of great faith and was a devout Catholic. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and participated in various volunteer activities. He especially enjoyed his responsibility of maintaining the candles for our Virgen de Guadalupe at Holy Angels. Albert also volunteered at Angelo Catholic School and Catholic Outreach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mucio and Natividad Castillo, seven brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Modesta Castillo, his children Annabell Reyes and husband, John David (JD), Sylvia Wise and husband, Chuck, Alberto Castillo, Jr. and wife, Holly. His grandchildren, Sara, Carol and David Reyes, Natalie Castillo, Lorin Hoague. His brother, Jessie "Chuy" Castillo.
Serving as pallbearers are Alberto Castillo, Jr., John David (JD) Reyes, Chuck Wise, David Reyes, Michael Castillo, Richard Castillo, George "Jorge" Castillo and Gilbert Castillo.
A rosary for Albert will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 2309 A&M St, San Angelo, Texas, followed by a mass of Christian burial. Albert will be laid to rest in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, TX 76905.
Services are under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home.
