Mary Alice Brittingham, 66, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. Born Sept. 22, 1948 in Salisbury, Maryland, she was the youngest of the late Alton P. and Alice K. Brittingham’s four children. She was a lifelong resident of Salisbury. Mary Alice was a member of the first graduating class of James M. Bennett High School in 1966, and graduated from Salisbury State College in 1978 with a degree in business. In her younger years, she helped her parents at their business, Brittingham’s Confectionary, and later worked in sales at Hutzler’s, Langrall’s Furniture, and most recently for 23 years at Johnny Janosik Furniture in Laurel, Delaware, where she was one of its most productive and valuable salespeople, retiring in 2012. Mary Alice is survived by her niece and caretaker, Jane Langrall Robinson, of Salisbury, and her nephew Dean Langrall of Ocean City; nieces Joan Malone, Terri Cornelius, Connie Morris; a great-niece and goddaughter Emily Balea-Hopkins. She also leaves behind her best friend of 54 years, Valerie Webster. In addition to her parents, Mary Alice was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Brittingham, Alton Brittingham Jr., and her beloved sister Betty Jane Langrall. Two nieces, Kathy Jane and Bobbi Ann Brittingham also preceded her in death. Mary Alice cherished spending time with her family and friends, working around her home and her yard, and enjoying the company of her Shelties. She was a loyal supporter of the Humane Society. While her parents and sister were alive, she was their primary caregiver, and unselfishly gave her time seeing to their needs. Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 20th, at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 E Main Street in Salisbury. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:30 PM, prior to services. Burial is private.
