Our beloved mother, Margaret Townsend Day, died peacefully on January 21, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Margaret Day Magno of Midlothian, Virginia. She was born to Paul and Margie Townsend on March 21, 1918 in Salisbury, Maryland where she remained through high school. She was very active in sports, including varsity basketball and winning numerous tennis and golf awards throughout her life. She attended Beacon Business College before marrying William M. Day, also of Salisbury, in 1941. Margaret was a lifelong member of Asbury Methodist Church and was the church's longest living member. Margaret and Bill made multiple moves around the Midwest and Northeast before retiring and returning to the Eastern Shore in Berlin, Maryland. She was a kind, friendly, loving mother who enjoyed life and caring for her four children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed by all of them. Margaret is survived by her four children and their spouses, Margaret and Vince Magno of Midlothian, Virginia, Mary and Tom Wilkinson of Williamsburg, Virginia, Mollie and Bobby Cole of Navarre, Florida, and Bill and Kathy Day of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amy Wilkinson, Jenny Wilkinson, Will Day, Corey Day, Taylor Day, and Vince Magno, as well as four great grandchildren, Sylvie, Townsend, Baxter, and Mabel, all of whom had the wonderful benefit of knowing her during her long life. There will be a memorial church service on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Asbury Methodist Church preceded by a private interment at Parsons Cemetery.
