Edward C. Wright, 94, of Double Mills passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 13, 1929 he was the son of the late Charles M. Wright, Sr. and Blanche W. Wright.
Ed worked alongside his wife Ellen on the family farm and enjoyed spending his winters in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was a member of Snethen United Methodist Church, lifelong member of Maryland Farm Bureau, served as a board member holding several offices of the Hebron Savings Bank, and was a member of the Westside Historical Society.
He is survived by his children, Charlene Harcum, Janet Mercer and her husband Rick; and Keenan Wright and his wife, Susan; son-in-law Barry Williams; five grandchildren, Jaime Schindelbeck and her husband Shawn, Justin Williamson and his wife Margie, Jacob Williamson and his wife Gwen, Stacey Harr and her husband Chris, and Sarah Williams; six great-grandchildren, Stefan, Kyle and Rebekah Schindelbeck, Bryce Harr, and Rhian and Maisie Williamson; two step great-granddaughters, Alyssa Conroy and her husband Michael and Sierra Payne and her husband Trevor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ellen Leonard Dougherty Wright; daughter, Barbara Williams; son-in-law, Lee Harcum; brothers, Charles M. Wright, Jr. and Richard William “Dick” Wright; sisters, Dorothy Layton, Nellie Henry, Louise Ruth, Elizabeth Horner, and Marie Ruhl.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held Friday, June 9th at 11am at Snethen United Methodist Church, 25970 Delmar Rd, Mardela Springs, MD. David Mister will officiate. Friends may visit Thursday, June 8th from 6pm-8pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main St. in Salisbury.
