Edna Mae Jones Dunn, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 23, 2024 surrounded by her family. Edna was born January 25, 1927 in Cleveland, Tennessee to Grover Letch Jones and Grace Samples Jones. She was married to Harry Wilson Dunn of Chattanooga, TN on February 4, 1945 for 67 years prior to his death in July 2011. After retiring from Chesapeake and Potomac Telco in 83’, as supervisor in the Business Office, she spent many years volunteering at PRMC Hospital receiving awards for her years of service. She also volunteered at Parkway Church of God’s Academy, the church where she was the oldest living member at the time of her death. While a member she served in the choir, worship team, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and she and her husband received the “Senior Award” for their leadership in the state Senior Program.
Her family meant so much to her and she repeatedly told them so every time she was with them.
Surviving her are her children, Brenda Jean Harper (Bob), Harry Lynn Dunn (Karen); grandchildren, William Todd Harper (Katie) and Michael Dean Harper (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Nathan Todd Harper USMC and Natalie Ann Harper. She loved her many nieces and nephews and checked on them often.
Being one of seven children, only one sister Mrs. Faye Whayland survives her. Her brothers and sister, J.D. Jones, J.R Jones, Paul Jones, Barbara Blankenship, and Ray Jones precede her in death.
At the time of her death, she resided in Mallard Landing Independent Living Community where she met and made many new friends.
Edna’s life exemplified one that followed the teachings of Christ and lived her life to make Heaven her home.
With great affection and appreciation, we honor mom’s caregivers: Ramona (Mona) Hotchkin, Rose Causey, Cheryl Adam, Odette Torchon, Dixie Thomas, Lori Skinner Hancock, Marlene Torchon, Alta Meredith.
