Robert "Bob" August Schuman

Bob was born October 7, 1936 to Robert A. Schuman and Mary (Lockwood) Schuman in Garfield, Washington. Bob resided in Lincoln City, Oregon with his wife Sharon (Rosenbalm) Schuman of 43 years, until they moved to West Salem. Bob retired after 30+ years from Fort Hill Lumber Co. In 2020, Bob and Sharon moved to Cedar Village in Salem where Sharon still resides. Bob is survived by Sharon and their seven sons, Eldon Schuman (Xiomara) of Woodworth, LA; Layne Cochrane (Julie) of Lincoln City, Mickey Cochrane (Debbie) of Pedee, Matthew Schuman (Hilleke) of the Netherlands; Mark Schuman (Tami) of Orofino, ID; Ty Cochrane of Salem and David Schuman of Arlington, WA. Special thanks to Merri, Kelly and Raymond who cared for them the past several years and were part of the family. He loved you all dearly.

Bob and Sharon built a beach oasis in Lincoln City on the bay where he enjoyed building, expanding and working on the beach house where many enjoyed countless parties and celebrations. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting in his youth and caring and raising for 4 boys. Bob and Sharon have 14 grandchildren with numerous great-grandchildren. They will be known for their giving hearts and becoming foster parents for many children that all came to call them grandpa and grandma, some becoming permanent family members. They touched countless lives, young and old. There are so many of these special people Bob helped raise and it would take too much of the paper to list but we all know who you are. Bob leaves a hole in the heart of all who knew him. He was truly a kindhearted person that would do anything for anybody and did so for many years of his life. Bob and Sharon’s place was always warm (with his wood stove at 90 degrees) full of people, family, with lots of food. Bob, we still find it amazing you could sleep in that chair with everything going on around you.

There will be a brief memorial service at Bob’s resting place on Saturday, July 17, 11:00 A.M. at Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1295 Browning Ave So, Salem OR 97302. Reception immediately following.
