Juan was born in Guadalajara, Mexico on 3/28/1948. He was proud to become a US Citizen. Juan came to America with nothing. He was proud that he built a successful life full of love, created a family, retired from a great career, bought rental properties, and was able to provide financially for his family. He had a strong work ethic but made sure to put family first.
He earned a degree from the Trade Program at UCLA in California. He married the love of his life Evelia on 6/13/1968 in Los Angeles, California. He knew she was the only one for him after their first date to Disneyland. They had a beautiful love story marriage of good and hard times but never gave up on each other for 53 years. You could find them joking with each other trying to make the other one laugh harder. They left East Los Angeles, California and moved to Salem, Oregon in 1979.
He worked in the auto body industry for 16 years between Salem Auto Body and Macco Auto Body. He then went on to work at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon for 17 years. He retired from MacLaren on 05/31/2012. Once retired he became a fulltime traveler to Mexico, California, and everywhere else Evelia and Yvette wanted to go.
He was a long-time member of Salem Oak Park Church of God. He played basketball, racquetball, and swam at the Salem YMCA for many years. He was a member of the Corvette Club. He had a passion for Spanish concerts, listening to loud music, old cars, BBQing, and casinos. He liked watching sports and betting for tacos with his son Johnny. He took many walks with his daughter Adriana. He loved to joke with his daughter Marisella. He passed on his passion for road trips and the love of California to his daughter Yvette. His granddaughter Evie gave him a second chance to being a kid. She was grandpa’s spoiled baby girl. Juan was the favorite fun uncle/tio to many and is already greatly missed.
He is survived by his son Juan “Johnny” Arechiga, Yvette Arechiga, Marisella Arechiga, Adriana Arechiga, and estranged daughter Patti Gray. Grandchildren Tre Cline, Vanessa Cline, Janaya Cline, Sabrina Lohr, Evie Arechiga. Great Grandchildren baby Dublin Lohr, baby boy Cline Feb 2022. Sister Alicia Arechiga. Brother Tony Arechiga.
