Born August 13, 1935 in West Otis, Arkansas, Joyce came to Oregon at a very young age. Her family settled in Lakeview, east of Klamath Falls. Joyce grew up there with her two sisters, Melba and Glenda.
Joyce enjoyed school and was part of the tumbling team, the choir, and also played softball, well into her adult years. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1953.
Joyce went on to nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR. There she met Robert L. Headings, who was serving his 1W service for the military as an orderly. They married January 24, 1955 in Lakeview and had five children together.
Joyce enjoyed her friends and family. She loved singing, history, and travel. She was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.
Joyce is survived by her sisters: Melba Callender and Glenda Huff; her children, Robert E. Headings (Christina Birch Headings), David Headings, and Joy Wilson (Richard Wilson); her grandchildren, Daniel Headings, Andrew Headings, and Sarah Headings; and her great grandchild, Vivian Miller.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, W. Elton Snow and Hazel (Samples) Snow; her ex-husband, Robert L. Headings; her sons, Ronald and Donald Headings, and her grandson, Jeffrey Headings.
A private service will be held with family. Donations can be made in Joyce’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
