JoAnn, 91, passed away from this earth to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She passed away at home in the care of her daughters.
JoAnn was born in Bend, Oregon, to Ervin and Inez Gist. She grew up in Prineville and The Dalles. After graduating from The Dalles High she moved to Portland and worked for the telephone company. In 1952, she married Ken Ahlberg, the love of her life. They lived in Portland and Eugene, while Ken earned a degree in Business and JoAnn took care of their two children. They moved to Salem in 1959 where they lived out their remaining years. Ken passed away in 2014.
JoAnn held jobs with Sears, the State of Oregon, and the SAIF Corporation. She enjoyed her family, playing bridge with friends, baking, reading, and many trips to Hawaii with Ken.
She is predeceased by her husband Ken, sister Betty Ferguson, and niece Donene Gist. She leaves behind her children Teresa Morrill (Sherm) and Catherine Quinnett (Dan), four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brother Don Gist (Dena), and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she deeply loved.
A memorial service for JoAnn will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Salem on Saturday, May 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial Park.
