Jesse was born in Santa Rosa, Texas on March 11, 1947. He joined the U.S. Army May 24, 1966. Rising his way up the ranks to E-4 as an specialist paratrooper.
After ending his military service Jesse moved to Washington and met his one true love, Juanita Trevino February 18, 1968. They married in Prosser, Washington June 21, 1969. They welcomed their daughter, Becky Juanita Turner on February 1, 1970 and welcomed their son, Isaac Jacob Sanchez on December 12, 1974.
Over the year you could have found him doing any number of his hobbies from dancing, to mechanic work, to coaching youth sports, to gardening, but he always found his way back to his favorite hobby, his horses. Jesse loved his horses from El Rayo to Micah, but only one horse will be with him for eternity, Abby “Jesse’s Pride”.
Jesse started working in the fields of Cotton over the years, where he learned to drive tractor-trailers and operate heavy equipment. He moved to Oregon in 1980 to be an over the road driver. Jesse started working for the State of Oregon in 1992, where he retired after 25 years of loyal service. In 2018, his world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma due to exposure to gases while serving in the Army during the 1960’s. He fought bravely and conquered the demon in the summer of 2018.
Every day you could find him working at the Salem Saddle Club working the arena or with many of his many horses. Jesse always had supported his 7 grandchildren starting with Nick and music. Alysia in her singing, Tyler and his love of sports, Vincent in His acting, Zach in his soccer, Jazmin and Brooklyn in their rodeo.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Trevino Sanchez; daughter, Becky and Ron Turner of Salem, Isaac & Robin Sanchez of Silverton. Jesse is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Jesse Sanchez Sr. and Juanita Hernandez, Sisters, Mary Lou Sanchez, Elida Mata, Yolanda Burkham.
Viewing will held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service on Monday, June 26th from 4pm – 8pm. A Funeral Mass will held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 27th at 10:00am.
