Jeanette Arlene Harvey passed away on July 20, 2022 at the age of 92. Jeanette was born in Bismark, North Dakota to Frank and Mary Johnson. She grew up on a farm in rural Bismark and attended a one-room schoolhouse with 8 grades and a total of 8-9 students. She rode a bicycle to school 3 miles with no school being held in the winter. Jeanette moved to town with her cousin to attend high school, graduating in 1948.
Church was a big part of Jeanette's life. She played the piano for Sunday School and the organ for church services along with singing in the choir and a sextet. Jeanette also work for the teacher's replacement service, working with teachers along with filing and typing. In 1950, the family moved to Salem to be close to Jeanette's brother, Edsel. When she first moved here she worked for the DMV until she was hired at State Farm as the office manager for the Oregon Division.
Jeanette had 3 children and was a stay-at-home mom until returning to work at Hayesville Elementary School as an office assistant and later transferring to the District Office in Library Media until her retirement in 1995. Jeanette loved spending time with her grandchildren playing SkipBo and other card games (never letting them win) and making sure there were lots of snacks! She was so proud of each one of them. She adored her 3 great-grandchildren and loved getting pictures and videos on her iPad to keep up with them!
She is survived by her 3 children Brian, wife Karen; Diane Cardoza, husband Jimmy; and Linda Shryer, husband Larry. Along with 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edsel Johnson.
