She was born in Everett, Massachusetts on June 13, 1943 to parents Samuel and Gertrude (Mahler) Sofnis.
Berta resided in Lynn for over 40 years and was owner of Sanibelle’s Boutique in Peabody for over 10 years. However, she was most well known for her dancing.
Berta was passionate about dancing. She drew the line at slow dancing, though. It was far too boring for someone so full of life.
While living at Kaplan Estate Assisted Living, she helped to orchestrate a very successful “Sock Hop” for the residents and staff. One staff member even noted that Berta was the embodiment of ‘seize the day’ and aging gracefully.
She will be deeply missed by all those she leaves behind, especially her dear friend, Pauline Spirito.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Pride of Lynn Cemetery.
Donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem.
