BLACK-SCHERER, Edith “Edie”- of Beverly; entered into rest on November 21, 2015 at the age of 45. Raised in Marblehead, Edie was the loving daughter of Melvin Black and the late Shirley (Cohen) Black. After attending Northeastern University, Edie furthered her education with a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. She first worked at the Boston Architectural College, then for the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences and the Massachusetts General Hospital Partners Pediatrics. She was an author, recently publishing her first novel, The Price of Fame. Edie leaves behind two beloved sons, Nicholas Scherer and Jack Scherer. She was the loving sister of Lynne Black and her husband Joe Nunes of Peabody and Heidi Smyth and her husband Paul Smyth of Swampscott. Edie was the cherished aunt of Lauren Smyth, Adam Smyth and several others abroad. Edie was loved by numerous friends and extended family, in the U.S. and abroad, and she will be missed by many. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:30AM at Congregation Shirat Hayam of the North Shore, 55 Atlantic Ave., Swampscott, MA 01907. Interment will be held at Mishna of Chelsea Cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, MA 02149. Edie’s family will receive visitors following the interment, from 4-7PM, at Congregation Shirat Hayam of the North Shore.
