Randall, “Randy” passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on June 17th 2022 in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Randy spent his childhood years growing up on his family farm in Toledo, IL. He graduated from Cumberland High School and attended Southern Illinois University to study History. After college, he was commissioned into the US Air Force. During his service in Vietnam, Randy earned a Distinguished Flying Cross as an IR on AC-130A Gun Ships.
While serving for the Air Force in California, Randy met the love of his life, Terry.
After retiring as a Major in the Air Force, Randy pursued a career in Physical Education. He worked as a P.E. teacher at Queen of All Saints in St. Louis for many years teaching ages K-8. He loved his students and was passionate about physical activity, especially running.
Randy was an avid runner and ran with his beloved Mudd Ducks in Forest Park, St. Louis weekly. Randy also was an Ultrarunner and traveled all over the world running in marathons and races. He loved to explore the world and never met a stranger. His friendships were special to him, and he traveled anywhere if a friend or family member needed him.
Randy’s travels and experience afforded him the opportunity to learn many life lessons. Among those he learned, he chose kindness and was generous to so many. His quiet generosity was his legacy as he supported so many in their endeavors to make their lives better.
Randy is predeceased by his beloved wife, Terry, his son, David, his mother Esther, and his father, Ralph Hill. He is survived by his daughter Tamara (Walter) McAbee, his son Myron Hill, his stepsons Mark(Cindy) Shelton and Scott (Sandy) Shelton, his sisters Jan (Tom) Kidd and Judith(Ted) Immel, and his grandchildren, Ashley (Shawn) Armstrong, Conner(Vinnie) Floyed, Zachary McAbee, Nicholas McAbee, Jeremy (Ashleigh) Shelton, and Jenna Shelton. Randy was a beloved Opa to his eight great-grandchildren and loved them so.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider running a 5K or running event in Randy's honor.
A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors for Randall will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road St. Louis, Missouri. Family and Friends may gather prior to the service and will be meeting at Sylvan Springs Parking lot, this is located right off of Sheridan Road en route to the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The family will be meeting between 10:00 AM and 10:15 AM.
