Also known as "Millie", "Bubbles", "CaCaw", and "MOL", Mildred lived a full and wonderful life and touched all who knew her. She had a gracious gift of hospitality and a fun loving spirit.
She was born June 24, 1920 in Venice, IL to Otto & Linda Wagner. She was the eldest of 3 children...Jenelia and Duane.
She grew up in Richmond Heights, MO and graduated from Clayton High School in 1938. She attended Miss Hickey's Secretarial School then moved with her sister, "Jigs" to TN to play softball for a local company. There, she met and married Raleigh "Bud" Newman who was the team's manager.
When "Bud" was sent overseas during World War II, she moved back to the St. Louis area where their first daughter, Linda, was born. During "Bud's" deployment, he was nearly fatally injured in Metz, France. Thankfully, he returned home and their second daughter, Beverly, was born.
The family moved to Webster Groves, MO in 1951. In 1968, her dear sister "Jigs" and brother-in-law Al both died suddenly. Their daughter, Terry, at the age of 13, became a beloved part of her family as a daughter.
mildred realized her life's dream when "Bud" retired and they moved to Naples, FL. They called it Paradise.
She lost her life's partner in the year 2000. She continued to enjoy their friends and her Bingo until she lost her spark at the age of 1oo due to the COVID 19 pandemic in the year 2020.
She dearly loved her family: her children, those who married into the family, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and all the many friends she made over a lifetime.
Her motto of life was:
"You make your own happiness"
and that she did well. She is missed by all who were blessed in knowing her.
She was laid to rest with "Bud" on Friday, July 1, 2022 in Jefferson barracks National Cemetery.
