Born May 22, 1950 in Denver, Colorado, he was a US Navy Veteran and avid aviation enthusiast. He learned to fly as a teenager in Denver, served in a helicopter squadron in the US Navy, and returned to the air many years later flying gyroplanes. He was a lifetime member of the Popular Rotorcraft Association (PRA) and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA.) He was most proud of the gyroplane and experimental aircraft he built himself. With his great attention to detail, fellow pilots often asked him to assist with their preflight checks at the many Fly-Ins he attended.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Inge Gulkin and daughter, Molly Psyllas, all of Denver, CO.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beth Tate, his son Casey Gulkin (Cynthia Fortes) of Longmont, CO, loving stepchildren Le Tate (Leslie) of Murfreesboro, TN and Jaci Tate of Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Ian Barrera, Emma and Timber Gulkin, Petros and Stavros Psyllas, brother, Robert Gulkin, nephews Danny, Alex, and David, sister-in-law Eva Gulkin, of Germany, son-in-law George Psyllas, much loved cousins, Mel and Linda Slan, Janie and John Nyilas, Barry and Carolyn Freeman, and special lifelong friends Greg Mutz, Doug Tweed, and Robby Bennion of Denver, Colorado.
