Augustin “Augie” Ramos passed away on 07/09/2024 at the age of 70. Augie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda, their three sons, Jason (Pelham, NH), Justin (Jacksonville, FL), and Jordan (New York, NY), their partners, Erika, Jeannine, and Brendan, and five grandchildren, Bella, Nolan, Brooklynn, Leeum, and Erick.
Augie was born in Isabela, PR on March 24, 1954, and was the eldest son of Agustin Ramos and Margarita Ramos Quiles. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY when Augie was one year old, where he was raised with his siblings, Heriberto (“Eddie”), Richard, and Milagros (“Millie”).
After graduating from Bushwick High School and enrolling at York College for a few semesters, Augie worked several jobs, including at the family store on Green St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, before starting a long career in Information Technology at Smith Barney. There, Augie would meet lifelong and dear friends, Danny Palmieri, and his wife Eileen.
During his kid’s childhood years, Augie was a pillar of the Greenpoint community; volunteering his time to coach baseball at the Greenpoint Little League and basketball at the St. Anthony-St. Alphonsus Youth Association (SAYA). Augie also led SAYA’s basketball program as its Parish Athletic Representative (PAR) for several years until 2000.
Augie and his family moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2000 where he lived until his passing. Augie leaves behind a legacy of loving devotion to his family, friends, and community, as well as inspiring strength and courage as he battled his lung disease, including enduring a life extending lung transplant in order to spend a couple more years with his family.
In his final days, Augie was surrounded by his loved ones, reminiscing about memories of yesteryear, watching his beloved Mets, and listening to his favorite band Chicago.
Augie always made us smile and will be dearly missed, but his spirit lives on through the memories we shared, knowledge he bestowed on us, and unconditional love we had for each other.
Rest in peace and power to an incredible Husband, Dad, Papi, mentor, coach, and friend. We will always be wishing you were here, and our worlds will not be the same without you.
