Michael D Hill, Jr. May 10, 1961 - March 20, 2023 of Sacramento, California - Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine; son Zachary & daughter-in-law Danielle; mother Priscilla Armitage; brother Mark (Jean O'Sullivan); sister Marcy Wacker (Matt) & family; sister-in-law Sherry St. John; nephew Jim Robertson (Kyleen); aunt Pam Fox (Steve) & family; uncle Casey Curry (Diane) & family; Debbie Hill & several other cherished cousins; his esteemed colleagues; & countless fond friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael, Sr.
Michael was a proud 5th generation Sacramentan. He attended Mira Loma High School, graduated UC Davis in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Anthropology, & earned his Master's degree in Biological Science from Clemson University in 2013. He married the love of his life in 1988, & they welcomed their only child in 1990.
Michael pursued multiple careers over his lifetime. His first job was delivering newspapers at 12 years old, the largest paper route in Carmichael (88 papers). In his early 20's, he served as a Yolo County Sheriff's Deputy. Michael worked as the janitor at Culjis, Miller, Skelton, & Herberger Funeral Home during college. He worked in finance, as an electrician's apprentice, and was the managing broker for Enterprise Real Estate. Later in life, Michael found his true calling as a teacher. He earned his teaching credential in 2009 from San Francisco State, he was hired at Toby Johnson Middle School as the 7th & 8th grade science teacher in 2010. Michael was awarded Teacher of the Year & served as Advisor to many after school clubs.
Michael was an accomplished athlete & fan of the San Francisco Giants. He earned his brown belt from the Sacramento Judo Club & was awarded Golfer of the Year by Chargins' Golf Club in 2009. Michael also channeled his passion for baseball by coaching his son in little league.
In 2019, Michael took his appreciation for art to the next level by teaching himself to draw & paint. In particular, he loved pen & ink drawing & painting landscapes.
