Harold "Hal" Lee Clark, age 72, of Elk Grove, California passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Hal was born on June 12, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in Tulare, California where he graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1967. Immediately following his High School graduation, Hal enlisted in the United States Navy where he successfully trained to become a submarine sailor and spent the next eight years cruising the Mediterranean on both “fast attack” and “boomer” submarines. He was extremely proud of his service and became active in multiple Veterans’ groups later in life. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Hal settled in Tracy, California and worked for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he held a number of positions including plutonium handler, ending his 30+ year Lab career as an electrician. Hal was a true American patriot with an unending love of the American Flag, America’s Constitution and its Bill of Rights.
In 1998, Hal moved to Elk Grove, California and married the love of his life Liz. During his retirement years, Hal enjoyed gardening and G-Scale model trains and had hoped to someday have a large layout in his yard. He was an avid marksman and enjoyed going to the range with his wife Liz to keep his skills honed. Hal enjoyed reading anything military or historical and usually had his nose in a book. He spent many evenings and weekends watching Liz bowl, which can be boring, but he didn’t mind as long as they were together. Hal and Liz enjoyed traveling and especially loved taking long road trips through the countryside.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Lee and Nettie Jane Clark; his sister Sharon Kaye Clark; and his brother Jeffery Alan Clark. He is survived by his loving wife, Liz Clark; and his children Kevin and Heather Clark; Son in law of Myrtle Bogdan; brother in law of Michael Bogdan; and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 1:00 pm at Harry A. Nauman & Sons, Funeral Home, 4041 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, California. A committal service with military honors will occur Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California.
