On Sunday, February 19, 2023, our beloved Gina Maria DeHerrera passed away at age sixty seven. Born Gina Marie Bellettini in California, in 1955, she was one of five sisters – Alisa, Gina, Kristie, Dina and Trina. She married Raymond DeHerrera in 1984 and stepped into her calling as a mother to Lucas Raymond and Annaliese Marie.
Gina was an ever present loving and protective mother whose kids were her world. She was present for every game, every recital, success, failure, and they always knew how much they were loved. Gina’s beloved husband and partner in life, Raymond, passed away suddenly in 2010 leaving a huge void for all who knew and loved him. In 2016, Gina became a grandmother, “Nonna”, to Cooper Raymond, one of her happiest moments. She was again blessed in 2017 with the arrival of Cole Franklin, her second grandchild. Gina’s sister, Kristie Resek, was her best friend and confidante. Kristie’s husband, Roger, and daughter, Raquel, who was Gina’s goddaughter, completed their family circle. The two families were inseparable and did almost everything together. In 2021, Raquel made Gina a proud great-aunt with the arrival of Levi Adam Brent. Family meant everything to Gina.
Gina spent her career as a legal secretary working tirelessly for people who had suffered significant injury and loss. She was known as the “Queen” of a major law firm and worked alongside attorney Roger A. Dreyer for 40 plus years. She was passionate about her work, revered and trusted by those she worked with, and developed close personal relationships with the clients she and Roger helped over the years. Gina’s office friends and colleagues became her second family. Again, family was everything to Gina and that showed in the way she cared about the work she did.
Gina was an avid reader, she loved spending time outdoors, and cared deeply for animals. Her beloved Tony and Sadie were by her side as long as they could be.
Gina will be missed by all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Gina on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at The Sutter Club, located at 1220 9th St. Sacramento, CA, in which loved ones are welcomed to honor and celebrate Gina.
Gina will be buried alongside her husband, Raymond, at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95820.
