Auburn, ME - Claude was born on the family farm in Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides, Québec on September 30, 1941 to Romuald and Rose-Emma (Husereau) Laverdure. During his childhood, the family moved to the village of Val-David where Claude attended school and grew into the young man that would eventually settle in Maine. Claude died peacefully, his wife Rejeanne by his side.
Claude married Réjeanne Morrissette on May 8, 1965 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Shortly thereafter they settled in Mexico, ME into family life. Together they created a home enriched with love, comfort and joy. Our childhood years were filled with family trips to Québec to share our lives with our extended family instilling the language, culture and identity as French Canadians. As we grew older we enjoyed regular weekend camping and many family vacations extending down the east coast to the northern most reaches of Québec and Ontario.
Claude worked for the Town of Rumford, department of public works for over 30 years. Our family were regular parishioners of Saint-Theresa’s church where he and our mother were active members of the church community.
Our father was not one for idle moments. In their 25 years of retirement he and our mother expanded their travels and toured the countryside of the US and Quebec in their RV. They had a shared passion for Blue Grass Music Festivals so much so they were awarded the 2019 Fans of The Year at the Eastern Canada Bluegrass Festival. Throughout their travels they made lasting friendships from all walks of life. When not traveling, Claude could be found in his workshop crafting fine furniture for himself, his family and friends.
Claude’s lasting legacy will be his undeniable work ethic and commitment to family. Together with our Mom they forged a lasting partnership guiding us thoughtfully through our formative years. Family, craftsmanship, and work were the center of his life. He was a devoted son, husband, father and papa and will be missed by many.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at both Central Maine Medical Center and the Androscoggin Hospice HOuse
