William “Bill” Irvin Jackson, age 83, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on November 24, 2023, and immediately was received into his eternal home ”where there’s no longer suffering, sorrow, pain or tears.” Revelation 21:4.
He was born in Atlanta, GA the only child to William and Frances Jackson. He always felt his friends were like family and stayed in close contact with early classmates throughout his life. Bill’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. When many people think of Bill, they will quickly remember his generosity and truly giving spirit.
Bill graduated from North Fulton High School. He attended Georgia Tech before he proudly and honorably took time off to serve his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed at Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Following his military service, Bill attended Georgia State University and earned his degree in Business Administration. He began his full time career with Scientific Atlanta. In 1977 he took a bold step by starting his own business, which is a venture that his sons now proudly continue.
After retiring, Bill enjoyed traveling and cruising warm Mediterranean waters. Anything that had a beach was where he wanted to be. This created cherished memories with his beloved wife, Judy. Bill’s legacy extends beyond his professional and travel achievements. His proudest and happiest was being a devoted “GooDad” to his six grandchildren, This included showering them with memories such as trips to Disney World, trips to the cottage in Destin and backyard pool parties that included lots of splashes, love and wisdom. Bill also loved growing beautiful flowers and playing in the dirt.
Bill’s warm and welcoming nature endeared him to everyone he met. He had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever life took him. His faith in Jesus was central to his life, and he shared his love of Christ with all he encountered. He experienced this as he served on The Board of two Mission Organizations. He also was a member and served faithfully at North Point Community Church since its founding.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy. Also left to cherish Bill’s memory are his two sons and their families: Brad and his wife, Mary, and Derek and his wife, Gillian. Also mourning are Brad’s children, Annie, Katie, Ellie, and Billy; and Derek’s children, Georgia and Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Samaritan’s Purse, https://www.samaritanspurse.org/ Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or a charity of your choice.
