Tim Harris

Tim loved deeply, gave generously, and laughed loudly. He was a loving husband to his wife Rachel Harris, a devoted son to his mother Barb Harris, and his beloved father John Harris, who preceded him in death by one week. He was a strong rock of the family for his sisters Becky and Tracy as well as the members of Rachel's family, his in-laws Charlotte and Phil Rosenberg, sister-in-law Elyse and her husband Matt. He loved his stepdaughter Evie Chandler Brown incredibly much, as he did his two nieces Kate and Sophie Bennett.

Tim was born thirty-nine years ago, on August 11, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia where he grew up. He graduated from Milton high school and later went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from University of North Carolina, Asheville.

Tim proudly volunteered to serve in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and served a combat tour in Afghanistan prior to his Honorable Discharge. He received awards including the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the War on Terrorism Medal and as well as other honors. He fought bravely as a combat team member, respected and never disappointing his fellow soldiers, even in combat.

In recent years Tim worked for the United States Veterans Administration helping his fellow veterans with the expeditious processing of medical claims.

He had many passions, with mountain biking and road cycling high among them. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Miami Hurricanes, and the Atlanta Falcons. He was most passionate about the joyful times he spent with his family.

Tim’s strength of character, and his love for family, friends, and neighbors marked him as a hero. Even after death he continued to save lives as an organ donor.

His life had great meaning and inspiration for others. He will be held sacred in the memory of the very many people lucky enough to know him.

Tim was a loving husband, son, brother and a friend to many. He will be eternally missed by those who were lucky enough to have known him. Love doesn't make the world go 'round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
