Born and raised in Bloomington Illinois to Lawrence Moffitt and Clara Charlotte Moffitt, after graduating from Bloomington High School in the Class of 1959, Terry joined the National Guard.
After his service, he attended Illinois State University, where he met his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Anne Moffitt (Smeltzer), and they were married in 1966. They would go on to raise their three children, Alan Lawrence Moffit (Jana Nicole Moffitt), Mary Kathleen Mena (Greg Mena), and Joseph Moffitt (Jenna Moffitt). They were further blessed by four loving grandchildren, to whom he will always be a cheering fan, a model of integrity, and most commonly a tight hug and a big smile.
After enjoying a decades long career as a master electrician and retiring in 2000, Terry never stopped working with his hands until the very end. Friends and family recall his love for his community, more often than not seen gathered around a table during breakfast at the Times Past Inn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sharon (Campbell). He is survived by his wife and children, all of Marietta, GA, his grandchildren, Riley Mena, Haley Mena, Hunter Moffitt and Rachel Moffitt and his sister Carol Alcorn.
In lieu of flowers and in his memory, take a friend out to coffee and share a fond memory together.
A memorial gathering for Terry will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076.
