Robert L. Koppes

Robert passed away on March 9, 2014. He was born on January 27,1953 in Dickinson, ND but spent his early years as a self described "Military Brat" with his youngest years spent in Germany. His family settled in the Ben Hill area of Atlanta when he was still a boy.

He was a 1971 graduate of Therrell High School, where he earned his Varsity Letter in Track.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts from the University of Georgia in 19 77.

Robert worked as a large (insurance) loss adjuster for several years after college. He then worked in retail sales and marketing, and eventually became a licensed real estate agent and appraiser and ran his own successful appraisal firm since 1994.

He also served as part of the reserve unit for the Fulton County Sherriff's department, particularly during the 1994 Atlanta Super Bowl and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games receiving many letters of commendation.

He adored his daughter Katie, and was extremely proud of her accomplishments, and her loving nature.

He married his lovely wife Elise in 1994, and they enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. They spent much time at their mountain house in North Georgia with friends and family. He especially enjoyed his two week motorcycle trip with his "brother" Louie Stein in 2005, where they toured the Wild West!

Robert had a wide circle of long time elementary, high school and college friends that he cherished as family and was blessed to maintain those relationships throughout the years. He was also fortunate to form family relationships with many neighbors over the years. All of these individuals were not just friends, but family and he cherished them all.

Robert is survived by his wife, Elise; daughter Katie; a brother and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Roswell Funeral home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and after the service there will be a Celebration of Life Reception to Honor Robert. Roswell Funeral Home in charge of Arrangements.
