He was born and raised in Roswell, GA. He grew up working on the family chicken farm which inspired him to seek more in his life. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1969. While at Roswell High School, he was the Drum Major for the marching band and Starting Bull Pen catcher for the 1969 State Finalist baseball team.
He attended the University of West Georgia, where he met his wife, Cheryl Lee Kemp. They were married on February 17, 1974 and shared a beautiful life together for 47 years. Together they raised 2 children Montine and Philip.
Phil was a hard worker, but more importantly, he was a family man. Family meant everything to Phil. He was a man that would always be there for his wife, his children and anyone else that needed his help. Words cannot describe the love he bestowed upon countless people. His faith in God is second to none. He was an avid gardener (made the best salsa), an honest business man and the rock for his family.
He led by example in all aspects of his life. There was never a person that had anything bad to say about Phil Mansell. He was accountable, dependable and loving. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Phil passed away peacefully on 6/20/2021, in the comfort of the home he loved.
Phil is survived by his loving Wife Cheri Mansell, Daughter Montine Zapf, Son Philip Mansell, Jr., Son-in-Law Joey Zapf, Daughter-in-Law Taylor Mansell, Grand Daughters Gincy Zapf, Berklee Mansell and Grandsons Crawford Zapf and Eston Zapf.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Roswell Historic Society and/or Northbrook United Methodist Church.
