Formerly of Marietta, Georgia, Louis was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and attended Dunmore public schools. He graduated from Dunmore High School in 1959 where as a member of the track team he set the state record in the 100-yard dash. He attended Temple University where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in pharmacology and became a registered pharmacist. He later went on to earn an MBA degree from Pepperdine University.
Born January 15, 1942, he was the son of the late V. James and Mildred Cetta Gatto and was a member of St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Church in Dunmore. He is survived by his three sons: Michael and wife, Mary, Westerville, Ohio; Marc and wife, Lori, Hampton Bays, New York; Matthew and wife, Crystal, Marietta, Georgia. He was the proud grandfather of Allison, Anthony, Marisa, Dominic, Cappe and Cetta. He is also survived by his sister, Judith McCauley, of Moosic, Pennsylvania. He had many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lou had a long career in the pharmacy and pharmaceutical industry. Before retiring he was regional pharmacy operations manager with Healthfield INC. Prior to that he was facility manager of Stadtlander’s Pharmacy, in Atlanta, Georgia; president of Infusion for Housecalls Medical Resources, in Raleigh, North Carolina; director of managed care for McKesson Corporation in San Francisco, California; director of business development for Healthfusion Inc. in Miami, Florida; executive director of pharmacy operations at National Health Care in Atlanta, Georgia, and vice president of operations at Foster Medical Corporation in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
Lou loved spending time with his grandchildren and delighted in their many accomplishments. He loved watching and playing sports especially football and was a diehard Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was all about his sons and their football achievements. He was active in all three boys' booster clubs and was a high school football referee in Georgia.
The family would like to thank Ohio State Wexner Medical Center nursing and medical staffs, the Inn at Olentangy Trail and Capital City Hospice.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Roswell Funeral home, 950 Mansell Road, in Roswell, Georgia, on Tuesday, December 20th, from 4 – 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 21st, at 2 pm at the Catholic Church of St. Ann, 4905 Roswell Road, in Marietta, Georgia.
