Helen was born in Marion, Kentucky on August 22, 1923 to the late Jesse Earl and Clora Ann (Clement) Carlton. She was a graduate of Bosse High School and Lockyear Business College, both in Evansville, Indiana. She held several secretarial positions including at Camp Breckinridge, Morganfield, KY; Camp Campbell (now Fort Campbell), KY; and Sun Oil Co., Evansville, IN. Helen was married to the late Arthur Douglass (Doug) Moore and moved briefly to Fort Wayne, Indiana before settling in Indianapolis. In later years Helen also lived in Boca Raton, Florida then Roswell, Georgia. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and sewing and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Arthur Douglass (Doug) Moore (1983).
Helen is survived by her daughters Marianne Mauck (Don) of Marietta, GA; Vicki Sexton (Dave) of Suwanee, GA; and Diane Riegle (Dave) of Canton, GA; grandson Jason Mauck (Claire) of Alameda, CA; great-granddaughters Gillian Rose and Kira Helen Mauck; and stepson Doug Moore (Sandy) of Noblesville, IN.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers Jazzmine, Sylvia, Blessing, Winnie, and Patrice for taking such good and loving care of Helen during these last months.
A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Roswell United Methodist Church, 814 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, GA 30075, 770.993.6218 with a reception immediately following in the church dining room.
