Geneva left us October 15, 2014. Born December 9, 1922 at home in Cookeville, TN she graduated from Cookeville High School in 1940 and went to work in a law office. After attending business school and working in Cookeville, she got a job at the control tower for the Cookeville airfield, and then moved on to Charlotte and Tri-Cities Airports. She trained for these FAA jobs at the Atlanta Airport in 1942, and moved back to Atlanta to serve the final years of the war in the tower there, mostly as weather specialist. Later she worked at R.S. Armstrong Construction Machinery as secretary to C.C. Cook, where she met Curtis W. Allen. They married in 1950 and had their children Laura, Martha, and Robert by 1955. Settling in DeKalb County, she was active in WD Thomson School and N. Amanda Circle Garden Club activities. She worked as an election poll worker for several decades.
She returned to work for Mr. Cook and worked as a church secretary and in administration and bookkeeping. She gave loving care and service to five family members as they aged and passed away. She loved to travel and after widowhood and retirement, she enjoyed trips to many foreign countries and all 50 states.
She had “MamaG Summer Camp” for her grandchildren and took them to the beach for spring break, providing many great memories.
She lived well to the very end and was surrounded by her loved ones who traveled long distances to say goodbye. She will be greatly missed by Laura & Mike Bouldin, Amy Bouldin, Kevin & Banning Bouldin, Martha & Clark Collins, Mariglynn & Geoff Edlins and Bergen, Daniel & Betsy Collins and Willo, Ruthie, and Bohannon, Brent & Elizabeth Collins, Seth Collins, her beloved son Robert and his family, Kerry & Alex Charpentier and Emery, and Jacob Allen.
