Don was born December 4, 1942, in Birmingham, AL to R. Hugh Hall, Jr and Edith
M. Hall.
He was raised in Trussville, AL, and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School. After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College, he served in the National Guard for four years. Don worked in the steel industry his entire career, and worked the majority of his career as a manufacturers representative through his company, Hall & Co.
Don had a life-long interest in astronomy, and was long-standing member of the Atlanta Astronomy Club. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of astronomy with young people, and would volunteer with the Boy Scouts and in classrooms. He also enjoyed cars, especially Corvettes. He fostered many great friendships sharing these hobbies with others and meeting people at events.
Don had a God-given gift to quickly establish a connection with others, to encourage, and to love others well. He had a way of making whomever he was talking to feel like the most important person. He loved hearing people’s stories about their lives and families, and would often recount these stories to his family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hugh Hall, Jr, and Edith Matthews Hall. Hewas married to Virginia “Ginger” Ferrell Hall for almost 53 years.
Survivors include his son, Christopher (Allison) Hall, daughter Alison Hall (Scott) Elliott, grandchildren Nathanael Hall, Erin Elliott, Alexander Hall, and Micah Elliott, brother Willis (Randy) Randall (Maletta) Hall, and nephew and nieces.
Visitation will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Briarlake Baptist Church
(Chapel), 3715 LaVista Road, Decatur, GA 30033. A memorial service will follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
