Barb was born February 18th, 1920 in Cleveland Ohio to the parents of Myrtle Elizabeth Russ and Ernest Charles Willson, the second of four children. Barb graduated from Shaker Heights School system early after advancing ahead a few grades because of academic excellence. There was a period where she lived in Thompson, Ohio on her Grandparents farm because of the after effects of the depression. Mom would remind her children that the farmhouse had no indoor plumbing and she would sit on the front porch preparing the farm grown food for dinner. Barb attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she worked two jobs to put herself and her sister through school. Barb graduated in 1941 and married the love of her life, Frank Weaver Booth, in 1942. They were married for 58 years and raised five children. Barb passed up going to medical school to be a full time stay-at-home mother. Her children always had three meals ready and a loving mother to help with their homework. When her children finished college, Barb managed an oncology practice and was very successful as a business women in Atlanta. Mom enjoyed tennis and her children and grandchildren. Barb enjoyed going to church and the music at John Creek Baptist Baptist church where Jeff and Lorie and their children, Tanner and Hope, and Lorie’s parents Sarah and Bobby would worship with her. Liz, Mom’s caregiver for almost 4 years’ would get Mom into her wheelchair, into the car, and in and out of the church. Liz kept Mom in good health and truly was a loving caregiver. On the weekends, Jennifer lovingly cared for her.
Barb is survived by her five children, Frank, Deb, Kim, Mitch, and Jeff. Frank provided Mom many beneficial exercises that kept her physically healthy. Deb’s oldest child Jonathan is married to Deborah and they have a child named Ilsa. Deb’s second child Katie is married to Chris and they have a child named Alice. Kim is married to Lynn and their oldest child, Eric, is married to Jeni and they have a child named Declan. Kim and Lynn’s second child, Scott, is married to Regina and they have a child named Kayden. Kim and Lynn’s third child is Lauren. Mitch has two children named Carson and Petie. Carson was recently married to Victoria. Jeff is married to Lorie and they have two children, Tanner and Hope.
On Sunday September 18th, there will be a private viewing at 2:30. The service will be at 3 PM at John Creek Baptist Church Chapel, located at 6910 McGinnis Ferry Rd., Johns Creek, Georgia.
