Roger Layne Christensen

Roger Layne Christensen was born Dec. 3, 1946 in Sioux City, IA to LeVerne and Carroll Christensen. The family moved to Oakland, CA in 1953. Roger and his older brother Steve grew up in the Bay Area, where Roger graduated from Castlemont High School in 1965. He joined the Air Force and spent 6 years serving his country. When he returned, he settled in Dublin, CA where he married his first wife, Cindy. They had their daughter Karen in May of 1975.

Roger was a long time employee of Catapillar until he moved to Auburn, CA in 1983, where he started working as a bus driver for Mid Placer Schools. He met his wife Sharon in 1986 and they were married in 1999. He became a father to her children Casey and Amy. Roger became a mechanic for Mid Placer and ended up as foreman of the shop until he retired in 2012.

Roger enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, fishing, playing golf, photography, and spending time with his family.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents LeVerne and Carroll, nephew Danny, and song Casey. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Karen (Ty) and Amy (Kelly), brother Steve (Pat), sister-in-law Carolyn, nephew David, and 7 grandchildren.
