With family members at her side Norma Lynn Nelson, 76, of Lincoln, CA passed away Thursday evening, 08/18/2016. Norma was born on 10/21/1939 in Brownfield, Texas to Horace P. and Edna Sims. At that time the family lived in nearby Meadow, TX. When Norma was 7 years old the family moved to Eunice, New Mexico. After graduating from Eunice High School Norma moved to Abilene, TX. where she attended a business school. After her completion of her courses Norma was employed by the Bank of Commerce, in Abilene. During 1968 Norma met her future husband, Frank, who was an Air Force officer at Dyess Air Force Base. Despite Frank's frequent trips for air force duties their relationship flourished and they were married 6/22/1970, in the chapel, at Dyess AFB. After the marriage they promptly departed Abilene for Sacramento, CA where Frank had a new assignment to Mather AFB. Norma loved the active military community and was always involved in various activities besides raising their daughter Wendy. Following their time in Sacramento Norma and Frank moved to Clovis, NM. While living in New Mexico, Norma gave birth to their son Andrew. After a relatively short time in New Mexico, Norma found herself headed to England. Norma was quick to adapt to life in the village of Stratton Audley. She made many new friends, some who continued to stay in touch until her passing. Eventually Frank retired from the Air Force and they returned to the Sacramento area. In April, 2003, Norma and Frank moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills. Norma enjoyed the many activities available at Sun City and once again made many new friends. Norma is survived by her loving husband, Frank their daughter Wendy Neese of Folsom and their son Andrew who also resides in Folsom; her brother, Leon Sims of Roswell, New Mexico and four grandchildren, Mackenzie and Trevor Neese. Emma and Owen Nelson. She was preceded in death by her sister Jackie Janell Wooten of Eunice, NM. A service, for Norma, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday 8/24/2016 at Lambert's Funeral home, 400 Douglas Blvd., Roseville. The burial service will be at held on Thursday, 8/25/2016, 2:00 PM, at the National Cemetery, in Dixon.
