Frederick A. Sanders, 97 of Roseville, CA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Fred was born on Saturday, January 3, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the fourth of six children, son of Frank U. Sanders and Irene M. Sanders.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Genevieve “Sis”, Donald, Patricia, and James. He was also predeceased by his wife Georgia Theresa (Fall) Sanders and their son, Craig Joseph Sanders, as well as his second wife Helen Elyse (Feltz) Sanders.
Fred is survived by his son, Keith Robert Sanders and wife Susan Sanders, daughter-in-law, Janet (Craig) Sanders and six grandchildren, Shane, Ben (Jen), Erin (Brendan), Jennifer (Dan), Katie and Kelly as well as eight great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by four (Feltz) step-children, Stephanie (Grant), Greg (Ann), Matt (Cathy) and Drew (Livian), six step-grandchildren, Jason, Sean, Brittney, Patrick, Cameron, Carly, and two step great-grandchildren.
Fred is a World War II veteran having served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and was President of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He served as Planning Commissioner, City Councilman and two terms as Mayor of the City of Walnut Creek. He was a Corporate Executive for most of his career and then a Real Estate Broker in his later years before and during retirement.
In an abundance of caution due to COVID, the Funeral Mass will be private for immediate family only on Friday, January 21, 2022.
