David was born on September 2, 1935 in Rome, Ga to William David "Red" Morris and Edna Hunt Morris. He was a member of 2nd Avenue Baptist Church, Rome. He began working at Rome's General Electric plant in 1954 as an assembler and retired in 1992 as a General Foreman after 38 years of dedicated service.
David will always be remembered for his never ending quick wit and sense of humor and for all the times he entertained friends with his musical talents of playing the piano , guitar and the harmonica. He loved to dance, dove hunt and bass fish, his favorite fishing holes being Victory Lake and The Reservoir on the Berry college campus.
David was preceded in death by his parents, William Morris and Edna Morris Hardin; his brother, Bill Morris, and his stepfather, Thomas Ruel Hardin.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Burnette Morris; two daughters, Carol Mathis (Danny Ray), and Cathy Bruce (David); and one son, Steve Morris. Grandchildren, Abby Dees (Russ), Cassie Camp (Matt), Justin Bruce (Elizabeth), and Jennifer Franz (Mark). Great grandchildren, Emma Dees, Riley, Ryan, and Ryder Camp, Annie Ruth and Rosie Bruce, and Brooklyn Franz. Step children, Traci Brown (Kraig) and Tory Poarch (Nannette). Step grandchildren, Ryan, Karter, Victoria, Michael, and Sarah Brown. Sister-in-law, Betty Zane Morris, nephews, Billy and Jim Morris, numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home, 901 East 2nd Ave., Rome.
The family will receive friends at Daniel's Funeral Home from 10-11:00.
