Mary M Mosley

Mrs. Mary McKinley (Mac) Howell Mosley, age 96 of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1926 in Rome, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late William McKinley Howell and Mary Eunice Caldwell Howell.

Mrs. Mosley is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter Newton Howell, and her daughter Pamela Ann Mosley Apple.

Mrs. Mosley is survived by her sons, Samuel A. Mosley, Jr. and James Irwin Mosley; 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren as well as nephews and a cousin.

Mrs. Mary Mac Mosley was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and an Auburn University graduate with degrees in chemistry and biology, and a masters from Emory University in library science. She was associate professor of library science from 1967-1968, then Director of library services at Shorter University from 1968 to 1993.

In her lifetime she was a member of AAUW and president of the Rome Branch, member of Rome symphony women’s association, member of Good Neighbor Ministry, heavily involved with FISH, member of Christian women’s fellowship and historian for First Christian Church. She also volunteered as resource librarian at Rome City Library. She was in Who’s Who of America Women and Who’s Who of Education.

Her hobbies included piano, reading and gardening.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 11, 2023 from 11 o’clock until 12 noon at Daniels Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Rome, Georgia at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
