Morris Edwin “Duke” Snyder, 85, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Rogers. He was born March 12, 1938 in Wichita, Kansas, to Wayne and Elois (Morris) Snyder. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald Snyder.
Duke was a 1956 graduate of Bentonville High School where he played the trumpet and excelled in football and baseball. Following high school, he attended the University of Arkansas. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Rogers where he served as Life Group director and sang with the Saints Alive Choir. He retired from Rogers Tool Works in 2004 after 46 years of service. Duke was an avid sports fan, and his passion for baseball led him to pitching for the Bentonville Merchants, a semi-professional baseball team in the 1950s. Duke was instrumental in the development of youth baseball in Rogers, coaching Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion teams for 30 years. He was known for his ability to develop winning teams. He was an Arkansas Razorbacks football and basketball supporter. He enjoyed his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, traveling, meeting with former classmates and coworkers, spending time at the Rogers Wellness Center, and he loved his family most of all.
He will be greatly missed by his children John (Tina) Snyder of Rogers; and Nancy (Kyle) Iske of Little Elm, Texas; grandchildren Heather (Chad) Eby, Brent (Sydney) Snyder, and Taylor (Jocelyn) Iske; great grandchildren Charlotte and Hudson Eby, Dallas Iske and Luke Snyder; his sister Dee Wilson and brother Jim Snyder.
Services will be August 9, 2023 with visitation from 9:30-11:00a.m.and a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., all at the First Baptist Church of Rogers, 3364 W. Pleasant Grove Road. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park with the Rev. Wes George officiating.
