Georgia Mae (Smith) Wilks, 98, of Rogers, passed away on December 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1925, in Norman, Oklahoma to the late George Smith and Effie Mae Davis.
Georgia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. She was everyone’s best friend, opening her home and heart to all, and always had a smile on her face. She was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for her family.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wilks, son, David Wilks, and siblings, Stanley Smith, Nonie Houser, and Betty Kirkpatrick.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Wells or Rogers, Cindy Craig of Fayetteville, Lisa (Roger) Bridges of Decatur, Texas, and Tina (John) Snyder of Rogers; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and her life reflected the values of love and compassion. She found joy in her involvement with First Baptist Church of Rogers, where she served others, enjoying community and faith. Georgia worked at her father’s cleaning business and then as a telephone operator in downtown Rogers for many years before dedicating herself to her family and raising 5 children. In addition to her spiritual faith and dedication to family, Georgia had many hobbies and passions. She had a passion for bowling that took her and her closest friends on fun adventures across the United States, creating many laughs and great memories. A true sports fan, Georgia could often be found cheering on her favorite teams – the Arkansas Razorbacks, Dallas Mavericks, and St. Louis Cardinals. Her hobbies and passions brought everyone together, creating shared excitement, community, and a sense of closeness among her friends and family.
But above all, Georgia will be remembered for the love she showered on her family. She always showed up and was always there. Her wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love will forever create an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
May Georgia rest in eternal peace, her legacy living on in the memories and love she shared with all who knew her.
At this time, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Baptist Church of Rogers in Georgia Wilks’ honor. A memorial service to celebrate Georgia’s life is yet to be scheduled, and details will be shared with family and friends as arrangements are finalized.
