He grew up in Riverside, IL and attended Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI. He continued his education at Carroll College, Roosevelt University and Louis University earning him a Master’s Degree in Education. He met his wife Jeana (Thelen) in July 1989 and they married in June 1993. Together they raised their precious daughters Sarah and Emily in the Chicago suburbs before relocating to NW Arkansas in 2014.
Chris was passionate about education and over the course of his career focused on teaching history and special education. He was a lifelong learner in constant the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. He was an voracious reader and always had a book in hand. At the time of his passing he was planning a return to college both to teach and pursue additional areas of interest. He made an indelible impact on the lives of his many students and student athletes. Chris loved animals and above all making memories with his family. He especially cherished his times in northern Wisconsin and South Dakota. Chris enjoyed the refuge and wisdom of nature, especially when shared in the company of his daughters and rescue dog, Hazel. Chris embraced the most simple gifts life offered to him and embodied a kind, generous and compassionate heart to all those he encountered.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Jeana (Bella Vista, AR) and their adored daughters Sarah (Tomer Shoham) Denver, CO, Emily (Joseph Antonopoulos) Tampa, FL.
