He married Mildred Landis in 1941 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the army during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre, including New Guinea and Biak Island. At Biak Island, he was wounded in battle earning him the Purple Heart.
Chuck and his family moved to Rogers in 1950. Living on a small farm, he would buy chickens all week, and on Saturday he would haul them to Kansas City for processing. This venture evolved into a poultry hauling business of well over 100 rigs delivering live poultry to area processing plants. He also owned the first GMC dealership in Rogers. In the mid 70's he ventured into commercial property development. Chuck was also a director on the board of the International Coin-Op Association, traveling world wide visiting coin-op laundry and car wash operations.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years, Mildred (Landis) Hinson who died in 1970; brothers, Buck, Bob, Laris, and Howard.
Chuck is survived by his second wife of 43 years, Edna "Lucille" (Jones) Hinson of Rogers; sons Rick Hinson and his wife Vera of Rogers, Tom Hinson and his wife Linda of Hillsboro, Texas, and step-daughter, Patti Groshans and her husband Craig of Pea Ridge; three grandchildren, Samantha Hinson-Brossette of Cambria, California, Robbin Hinson of Cambria, California, and Marcus Hinson of Rogers; 6 great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews; and a dear family friend and caregiver, Sharen Neel of Rogers.
A visitation will be Sunday June 29, 2014 from 2 until 4pm at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11am in the Benton County Memorial Park.
