Michael George Kraus, 82, of Merritt Island, FL died on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was a native Floridian born in Pensacola, FL on January 14, 1935. He came to the Space Coast to work for NASA in 1963 at the beginning of the Apollo program. He met the love of his life Karin, the daughter of a German rocket scientist, at the Kennedy Space Center in 1964 and they married on November 19, 1966.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karin Kraus, their daughter, Lisa Beasley (Robert) and son, Stephen Kraus (Melissa); grandchildren, Emily, Molly, and Matthew Beasley, and Andrew, Daniel, and Jason Kraus; brother, Frank Kraus; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 280 E. Merritt Avenue, Merritt Island, Florida 32953. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions are made to Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of Health First.
