Mary was born in Washington, DC, to her parents, Frank Murdock and Juanita Kitchens, on May 16, 1949. She later moved to Bladensburg, MD, where she met her High School sweetheart, Walt Marshall, in 1966. They later became married in September of 1972.
Mary spent her career as an Administrative Assistant to several governmental agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, the Agency for International Development, the Department of State, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Shortly after they were married, Walt and Mary began a yearly tradition of visiting Mary’s mother at her home in Florida. Together, they finally made the move to Brevard County in 2006. There, Mary became a Merritt Island Ladies Club member, where she forged several long-lasting friendships.
Mary had a life-long love and passion for watching and adoring birds of all different kinds. She enjoyed taking in all the beauty that nature offers and spending time on the beach. She also enjoyed taking pleasure cruises out of Port Canaveral, visiting many destinations throughout her years in Florida.
Mary had a sweet tooth and could often be found with a dark chocolate Hershey bar in one hand and Pepsi in the other. She was a true fashionista and enjoyed shopping for just the right shoes and purse to match her many outfits.
Mary is dearly missed by her adoring husband of 47 years, Walt Marshall; she is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Adair, Patricia Ferrara, Patricia’s husband Anthony (Tony) Ferrara, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Immediately following her passing, Mary was laid to rest at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge. A visitation gathering will be held on her birthday, Sunday, May 16, 2021, at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial from 1 pm to 3 pm. A memorial service will begin at 3 pm with a reception gathering to follow.
Visitors to Mary’s online tribute are encouraged to share a cherished memory or leave a word of comfort for the family.
