Jonathan was a 2006 graduate of Satellite Beach High School where he excelled in both academics and athletics. He earned varsity positions in both track and cross-country in each of his 4 years at Satellite High. Jonathan earned a full Bright Futures scholarship and attended UCF in Orlando, graduating with a Pre-Med degree in Microbiology in 2010. He also won a slot on the USA national triathlon team the same year.
At the time of his death, Jonathan was completing his third semester of medical school at the American University of Antigua in the West Indies. He was a very popular, straight A student at AUA. In addition to the tremendous work load of a medical student, Jonathan was a lead TA at the school where he mentored more junior medical students in Anatomy, his favorite subject. He was also heavily involved in local triathlon activities. Recently, he helped organize an upcoming ? Iron-Man triathlon race that will be held this January in Antigua. His heavy training for that event probably contributed to the most likely cause of death; athletic induced pulmonary embolism.
Jonathan had an amazing life full of love, joy and activity. He loved teaching and planned to be a medical college professor later in his career. He also loved snow skiing, hiking, scuba, boating, star trek, science fiction, comedy and his black 2000 Pontiac Firebird.
Jonathan is survived by his mother, Sybil Emmons of Cocoa, FL; his father, John Rohr of Hobe Sound, FL; his maternal grandparents, John and Alice Emmons of Tyler, TX; his aunt, Carol Rohr Lands of Chino Valley, AZ; his uncles, Jeff and Keith Emmons of Dallas, TX; his finance', Hali Vanderburg of Salt Lake City; and his adoring Golden Retriever, Gus of Hobe Sound, FL.
