Major Glenn A. McGuffie (USAF Retired) succumbed to ongoing health problems, including metastasized lung cancer on July 12, 2019. While he had been in severe pain for an extended period of time, the end was peaceful, which was all the family could pray for.
In Major McGuffie’s 21-year military career, he served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam Conflict. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Overall, during his service he also received the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Devices, the Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 Devices and both Long-term and Short-term Overseas Tour Ribbon. He was also qualified as an Expert Marksman with small arms.
After retiring from the Air Force, the family moved to Satellite Beach, FL. Here he extended his service by becoming the Brevard County Veterans Service Officer. In his role, he assisted thousands of veterans in navigating the sometimes-complex steps required to ensure that they are provided with the services both promised by the government and owed to them by all Americans for the sacrifices they made in defense of our freedom.
Glenn was born on August 7, 1946 to Jodie and Gladys McGuffie in Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Allison McGuffie; his son, Sean McGuffie with his wife, Marcy McGuffie; daughter, Tiffany McGuffie along with her daughter, Alexis McGuffie and his father-in-law, Philip Guay.
The family will have a “Celebration of Life” service on August 10th at 1000 hrs at the American Legion Post 200 (105 Ocean Blvd). If Glenn touched your life in a positive way, we welcome your attendance to pay your final respects and share stories of how he touched your life.
