George was born on January 15, 1941 in Ocklawaha, Florida, the son of Newton Perry “Coot” and Alepha (Kirkland) Hannah. He graduated from Okeechobee High School in 1959 and received his degree in Mortuary Science from Miami Dade College in 1971.
George was a funeral director in Fort Myers, Florida, for 42 years and finished his career in Brevard County, Florida. He was a charter member of the North Fort Myers Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He coached little league in North Fort Myers and girls church-league softball.
He was a man of deep faith serving in the role of Deacon at North Fort Myers First Baptist Church and Cape Coral Baptist Church. He is a former board member of the Royal Palm Baptist Association, former board member of the Florida Baptist Association, and member of the board of directors overseeing the establishment of the first Hospice House in Fort Myers.
George is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Hannah; two children, Sheri (Gerry) Becker, and Frank (Carrie) Hannah, grandchildren Evan (Elizabeth) Olsen, Lauren Olsen, Cory (Jessica) Hannah, Cody (Isabella) Hannah, and Dakota Hannah; and seven great-granddaughters.
The funeral service is 2:00 PM, Monday (11-25-2024) at the Life Event Center at Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955, with Deacon Frank Hannah officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the funeral service.
