Walter Lewis Jr.

Walter Lewis Jr was born on September 29, 1947, in Rockford Illinois, and gained his wings on March 16, 2022. He graduated from West High School in 1965. He worked for the US Post Office and the Winnebago County Jail for many years. Walter enjoyed learning, at age 65 he started taking continuing education classes at Rock Valley College working towards obtaining his degree.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, Walter Lewis Sr, mother Virginia Lewis Floyd, sister Rose Lewis Charles, three brothers Leander Lewis, Michael Lewis, and Graddy Lewis. He is survived by his only child, Yllonda “Lisa” Lewis-Anderson; two grandchildren, Austria (Marcos) Martinez and Joshua (Allison) Anderson; three great- grandchildren, Reese and Jayden Anderson, and Max Martinez, sister Joyce (Jerome) Thomas, Charles (Carolyn) Lewis. Walter was a proud uncle to Marcus (Kim) Lewis, Chris (Michele) Thomas, Jonathan Lewis, Latonya Thomas-Williams, Metra Lewis, Charlene (Derrick) Lewis, and Derek (Keyasha) Lewis

A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102.
