Thomas Wayne Magin Sr.

Thomas Wayne Magin Sr., 80, of Rockford passed away Monday January 22, 2018 with family by his side. Thomas married Janet Phillips in Pittsburg, PA. on August 18, 1956. Thomas was born in Rockford on April 30, 1937, son of Louis and Laura (Ridgeway) Magin. Thomas was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and owned his own Heating/ Air Condition and Sheet metal business. Thomas attended all the Rockford Public Schools and loved hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren that could do no wrong. Thomas ran a resort in Hayward, WI. Thomas is survived by his wife Janet of Rockford; daughter Pamela Scandroli of Rockford, son Thomas W. Magin, Jr. (Dawn) of Rockford, daughters Marylu Shumaker (David) of Rockford and Sandy Hanson (Jay) of Maricopa, AZ., son Randy Magin (Chris) of Rockford; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister Saramae Parrott and brother Lyle “Jack” Magin both of Rockford; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Laura; sons Tim and Jonny Magin; siblings; infant sister Mary Lou Magin, Annetta J. Renstrom, Marlyn Barrickman, Janell L. Mace, Donna Lee Swenson, George Magin, William Joseph Magin, Louis “Junior” Magin, Carroll Magin and Joyce Lowery. Family would like to extend a special thanks to Mercy Hospice for all their loving care.

Service to celebrate Thomas’ life will be 12:00 pm on Friday January 26, 2018 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. in Rockford; visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of services. Burial with Military Honors will be in Willwood Cemetery.
