Ronnie was a graduate of Harlem High School, a patriot, and a proud veteran of the US Army. He loved cars, biking, baseball and volleyball, having hosted many volleyball parties throughout his life. He was an animal lover, rescuing several dogs who soon became the loves of his life. He worked as a chef at the Hoffman House for many years before going into metal manufacturing and fabricating with lasers, retiring from LJ Fabricators in 2017. Ronnie cherished time spent with his many friends and family, always willing to help with anything. He was always there to lend a hand whenever a friend or family member needed help. He had a wonderful sense of humor that shined through in almost any situation, making time spent with him fun and full of laughter.
Ronnie will be deeply missed by his many friends; sisters Sue Thompson and Vickie (Andy) Ford; niece and nephews, Ron Thompson (Joann Todo), Donna Thompson, Mike Benjamin and Zach Ford; his loving and much loved dog, Biscuit; many cousins, aunts, uncles and his great niece. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Rusty; niece Nita Olson; great nephew Nick Shoudy; and beloved dogs, Dingo, Mai and Buddy Bear.
A memorial visitation for Ronnie will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM. In lieu flowers, donations can be made to the family for the establishment of a memorial.
